Random DIY (Do it Yourselves!)

DIY.

Here are a couple DIY projects for you guys!

1) Heart Patch Pocket Cardigan

2) Heart Patch Pocket Cardigan

Materials:
Any color Cardigan (Pockets preferred) - (similar here or here)
Leather or faux leather fabric
Tip: check your local inter design stores for any fabric books they are getting rid of!
Fabric glue

Instructions. Measure out your heart so that the top middle part lines the width of the top of your pocket.  You want it to be high enough that it won't flop over. Cut, trace, and duplicate a second heart.
Glue only the area of the heart that will overlap the pocket. Pretty simple:)
The leather fabric I used had a soft suedish backing so it was perfect for fabric glue. Leather backings will not hold and you will need to sew.

2) Denim Vests

{This was the inspiration for this DIY: pinterest via Harpar's Bazaar}

Check your local thrift store for a denim jacket. That is where I found mine!

Supplies:
Denim Jacket
Needle
Thread
Scissors

Instructions:
1. Cut off the sleeves as close to the hem line as possible. (Use sharp fabric scissors)
2. Cut the other end of the sleeve and cuff off at the length you want your pockets.
3. Flip them inside out and sew about 1/4 inch in along the end opposite of the cuff.
4. Flip back outside in and line where you would like the pocket to go. Stitch from the inside of the vest  all along the four sides of the pocket. Be careful not to sew through the top part of the pocket. This part may seem daunting, but it was actually pretty easy!
Total time: 20 minutes
Total Cost: $5

I hope you all enjoy this!

3) Room Decor

Want to spruce up your room a bit ? Here are a couple DIY wall Decor Projects.

1. Hang up a scarf.

Hang up a scarf.
Granted, you should pick a scarf that looks like a piece of art, like this one, and make sure to iron it before you hang it up. But you could also frame it.

Use masking tape to create a geoemetric, abstract painting.
Paint a crazy colorful random design on a canvas, use tape to make a herringbone pattern, paint over the whole thing in white. When you remove the tape, you'll get something like this.

3. Frame a fabric or wallpaper sample.

4. Wrap cute fabric around a rectangular piece of styrofoam or wood and staple in the back.

DIY  Strap Bra for Backless Tops and Dresses

How many girls out there love backless tops but aren't a size 10A and cannot
get away with not wearing a bra? Well this is my problem, so here is a bra
that I made (and anyone else can, its so easy) to wear under low back tops,
 singlets or dresses.
                              All you need is:
  • a strapless bra in your size
  • (preferably pick one with boning in the side so it does not collapse on itself.)
  • the detachable straps from the bra + 1 extra (or just simple black elastic will do)
  • fabric scissors
  • needle and thread or sewing machine
I hope my steps and photos aren't too hard to understand.
  1. Start off by cutting the back of the bra off 1.5cm from the boning.
  2. Use the back piece of the bra as a template to cut the three straps to length,
    allow 2cm extra in case.
  3. Lay the bra face up and lay the straps on top face down.
  4. Stitch the straps down on the back side of the boning.
  5. Then fold the 1.5cm back and stitch on the front side of the boning.
  6. Safety pin the other side and try the bra on to make sure it fits.
  7.  Remember you need to get it on and off so don't make it too tight.
  8. Repeat steps 3 to 5, trim off the excess and you're done.
